Description

Chamomile Extract is derived from the dried flower heads of Matricaria recutita (German chamomile), one of the oldest and most widely used medicinal herbs in Europe and the Mediterranean. Traditionally consumed as an herbal tea or infusion, chamomile has been valued for centuries for its calming, digestive, and skin-soothing properties.

The extract is standardized to apigenin (≥1%–5%), a flavonoid compound recognized for its relaxing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects. In addition to apigenin, chamomile contains bisabolol, chamazulene, and other polyphenols that contribute to its gentle sedative, gastrointestinal protective, and skin health benefits. Modern research highlights its ability to support relaxation, healthy sleep, digestive balance, and respiratory comfort.

Commercial production involves careful harvesting and drying of chamomile flower heads, followed by aqueous–ethanolic extraction and spray-drying. The resulting fine yellow-brown powder is stable under dry storage, partially soluble in water, and suitable for use in dietary supplements, teas, and personal care products.
