Description

Hops Extract is derived from the female flowers (cones) of Humulus lupulus, a perennial climbing plant native to Europe, Asia, and North America. Traditionally known for its use in brewing beer, hops also has a long history in herbal medicine as a natural relaxant to support restful sleep, digestive wellness, and nervous system balance.

The extract is standardized to flavonoids (≥3%–8%), including xanthohumol and other prenylated flavonoids, which contribute to its calming and antioxidant properties. In addition, hops contain volatile oils such as humulene and lupulone, which exhibit mild sedative, anti-inflammatory, and digestive-supportive effects. Modern research highlights hops extract as a synergistic partner with valerian, lemon balm, and passionflower for promoting healthy sleep and reducing occasional stress.

Commercial production involves harvesting and drying hops cones, followed by aqueous–ethanolic extraction and spray-drying. The resulting fine yellow-brown powder is stable under dry storage, soluble in ethanol, and partially soluble in water. Hops Extract is widely used in sleep support supplements, calming herbal teas, and functional nutraceutical blends.
