Description

Kudzu Root Extract is derived from the root of Pueraria lobata, a climbing vine native to East Asia and widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Known as “Gegen” in Chinese pharmacopoeia, kudzu root has been used for centuries to alleviate fever, promote circulation, and relieve neck and shoulder stiffness.

The extract is standardized to isoflavones (≥40%), including puerarin, daidzin, and daidzein. These phytoestrogenic compounds have been studied for their potential to support cardiovascular health, reduce menopausal discomfort, and promote cognitive wellness. Research also indicates kudzu isoflavones may aid alcohol metabolism and liver protection.

Commercial production involves drying, slicing, and extraction of kudzu roots with ethanol-water solutions, followed by concentration and spray-drying. The resulting fine light-brown powder is stable and partially soluble in water.
