Olive Leaf Extract
Description
Olive Leaf Extract is derived from the leaves of the olive tree (Olea europaea), native to the Mediterranean region and traditionally regarded as a symbol of health and longevity. For centuries, olive leaves have been used in folk medicine for promoting wellness, lowering fever, and supporting cardiovascular health.
The extract is standardized to oleuropein (≥10%–40%), a phenolic compound considered the key active constituent of olive leaves. Oleuropein, along with hydroxytyrosol and other polyphenols, exhibits strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial activities. Modern research indicates that olive leaf extract supports cardiovascular function, healthy blood sugar balance, and immune system defense.
Commercial production involves careful selection and drying of olive leaves, followed by aqueous–ethanolic extraction and spray-drying. The resulting fine brownish-green powder is stable under dry storage, soluble in ethanol, and partially soluble in water. Olive Leaf Extract is widely applied in cardiovascular support formulas, immune health products, and functional nutraceuticals.
