Introduction

Compared to raw reishi slices or tea, the concentrated extract contains significantly higher levels of beta-D-glucans, ganoderic acids (triterpenes), and other bioactive compounds. These constituents have been extensively studied for their immune-modulating, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and adaptogenic effects.

Commercial manufacturing typically uses cultivated organic reishi fruiting bodies, which are dried, pulverized, and subjected to hot-water and/or ethanol extraction to capture both water-soluble polysaccharides and alcohol-soluble triterpenes. The extract is then concentrated and spray-dried, producing a fine brown powder with a slightly bitter, earthy flavor. Standardized extracts can be customized to polysaccharides ≥30%–50% or triterpenes ≥1%–3%, depending on application.
