Stevia Leaf Extract Powder
Introduction
The extract contains steviol glycosides—primarily rebaudioside A (Reb A), stevioside, and other minor glycosides—which provide intense sweetness up to 200–300 times that of sugar, with minimal impact on blood glucose levels.
Commercial production involves harvesting high-quality stevia leaves, drying, and aqueous extraction, followed by purification using ion-exchange and membrane filtration to obtain high-purity steviol glycosides. The extract is then spray-dried into a fine white to off-white powder, with standardizations ranging from Reb A ≥40% to 98%, or total steviol glycosides ≥50%–99%, depending on application.
Stevia Leaf Extract Powder is derived from the leaves of Stevia rebaudiana, a natural, zero-calorie sweetener source native to South America. Stevia has been used for centuries by the Guaraní people of Paraguay and Brazil to sweeten teas and traditional medicines.
